Join our community of ecologically-minded people to help grow organic produce for CSA (community supported agriculture), workshares, and donations! Interns learn skills like: crop care and management, farm planning, volunteer leadership, permaculture design, and prairie/chicken/sheep/beehive care. Agricultural experience/education preferred but not required.
Here are a few fun ways that you can support the farm and our work this winter.
We all know the holidays are a time when there is a lot of pressure to shop and consume, which is overwhelming in so many ways! However, this can also be a time for joyful, creative, and environmentally-conscious gift-giving. If you are looking for some non-traditional, more socially-conscious ways to give gifts this season, we have some ideas for you. Plus, it's just so fun to make beautiful things and we want to share them with you all!

Dear Mustard Seed Farm friends,
We are entering a quieter season at the farm after finishing our last harvest mornings at the beginning of November, which included some beautiful cauliflower. We are so grateful to our whole community and to our amazing volunteers for making this another great season. We donated more than 5,000 lbs of food and hundreds of flower bouquets this year! Thank you all!
This is a short mini post to tell you 3 things:
1. GARLIC PLANTING WORKDAY -
This coming Saturday 10/26 9am-noon, 1-4pm.
And we will probably also be planting garlic on friday and sunday. More info below.

ART WEEK - which starts tomorrow, 8/21-8/28
POTLUCK - FRIDAY 8/23, at 6pm food and ROUNDTABLE discussion - Join us Friday (Aug 23) from 6-8 PM for a roundtable discussion about art and social change and a potluck dinner! Come chat about how we can use art and music in everyday life to make positive change in our world. Please bring a food item to share if you are able.
FARMERS MARKET this week and next - 8/24 & 8/31
WE HAVE A WHOLE WEEK OF EXCITING EVENTS PLANNED!
From Wednesday, August 21 through Tuesday, August 27 we will be hosting some extra-special art events on the farm. Some events and lessons will happen at fixed times, but we will also have some ongoing projects and general farm work during the week.

FLOWER POTLUCK - Saturday, August 10 at 5:30 PM on the farm
Join us for this awesome, free event! All are welcome! We'll start with a dinner potluck (please bring a dish to share if you are able) followed by a flower arranging workshop led by Jen, aka @iowadahlialady! All flowers will be provided; bring your own vase or jar to hold your bouquet.

Just some quick note about MELONS:This past week, our WATERMELONS, and CANTALOUPES just started to ripen. We hope we will have enough for you all to get one of each, and potentially more after that. However, just like our cucumbers, these plants are very popular with insect pests, so a long melon season can not be guaranteed.
